Ever since we opened for business in 1985, Joey's Only has reeled in amazing results. With more than 102 units, Joey's Only Seafood Restaurants® is the largest and fastest growing seafood chain in Canada.

Our longevity says it all. We've been franchising for over 10 years, assuring you a concept that works. And now that we've joined forces with a proven U.S. restaurant company, Joey's Seafood and Grill is on a course to duplicate our Canadian success in America. We've been expanding across the US since 1995, and our goal is to have more than 100 operating restaurants across the nation within the next three years.

Joey's Seafood and Grill falls into a very unique niche within the segment, but we offer so much more than the other concepts. The concept delivers a fast casual feel with a full service family dining experience.

Seafood has always been one of the most stable segments in the restaurant industry. And now, with the trend toward healthy eating, seafood has also become the industry's fastest growing segment.

Joey's Seafood and Grill has a menu that appeals to everyone, from seafood lovers to the most picky eaters. We serve up proven winners like fish & chips, shrimp, salmon, Mahi Mahi, calamari and more. Plus proprietary batters and recipes, and a variety of preparation options, including "healthy" options. And a newly expanded menu that includes rotisserie chicken and sandwiches, for diners who prefer turf to surf.

While there are many highly successful regional and national seafood chains catering to either higher end dining, or the fast food market, Joey's Seafood and Grill is the only one catering to the quick casual pace in a full service experience for the seafood diner. It's a niche with very limited competition and limitless potential.

Training and Support

Once your franchise application is approved, we will be there from day one, assisting you with site selection and construction. And using our collective buying power, we will help you purchase high quality furniture, fixtures and equipment at very competitive prices.

Your Joey's Seafood and Grill Training Program will consist of up to four weeks working at an established Joey's Seafood and Grill restaurant. You will learn firsthand all aspects of restaurant management including cooking, customer service and personnel management. You will also receive accounting, marketing and operations manuals to facilitate day-to-day management.

And for up to two weeks after your restaurant opens, we'll have specialists on site to ensure smooth operations and on-going support.

Marketing and Advertising

Joey's Seafood and Grill corporate provides an arsenal of fun and impactful advertising components for each store owner. From an annual calendar of turn-key tactics to implement, to in-store promotional collaterals, each franchisee has the tools to drive business through the door and up sell customers once they are inside.

  1. Yearly calendar of national marketing campaigns, complete with in-store POS materials.
  2. In-store POS materials - table toppers, posters, etc.
  3. Help with buying local mass media - TV, cable, newspaper, etc.
  4. Local store marketing support and guidance.
  5. Help with designing and printing menu.
  6. Templates owners can use to create in-store menu specials.
  7. Design assistance for all campaign creative.

And serving meals that keep the house packed is a guarantee, with recipes that were developed for consistent quality and ease of preparation.

We're just as particular when it comes to choosing locations for our restaurants. That's why you'll always find Joey's Seafood and Grill in high traffic retail centers and other top performing sites.

Site Criteria
  • Size - Between 2,800 to 3,400 square feet.
  • Exposure - High visibility end cap or in-line locations.
  • Frontage - Minimum frontage of 40 feet.
  • Parking - Minimum of 50 dedicated parking spaces or access to additional parking within the same lot.
  • Ceiling - 12 feet minimum to bottom of truss (exposed ducting/truss system preferred).
  • HVAC - One ton for every 150 square feet.
  • Electrical - 400 amp/220 volt service into the space.
  • Water - 1 inch water line with a separate meter.
  • Gas - Natural gas line available in space with a separate meter.
  • Sewer - 4 inch sewer line into the space.
  • Signage - Must permit the Joey's Seafood and Grill sign package, with appropriate sizing to be visible from the main traffic stream.
  • Licensing - Eligible for liquor license to sell on-premise wine and beer, or full liquor.
  • Co-Tenancy - Other "fast-casual" food concepts/quality restaurants, bookstores, banking facilities, coffee/bakery shops, video rental, medical/educational/community centers, and daily needs and/or lifestyle centers with a critical mass of night and weekend retail.
  • Patio - The ability to incorporate patios, and umbrellas adjacent to the premises a plus.

Demographic Criteria
  • Daytime - Population in excess of 5,000 within a 1-mile radius and the site is a recognized area that services that daytime population.
  • Households - 7,200 or more households within a 1-mile radius.
  • Population - Residential population of 50,000 or greater in a 3-mile radius and/or 15,000 or greater within a 1-mile radius. 
  • Income - Median household incomes greater than $55,000.
  • Traffic - Minimum of 30,000 vehicles per day along the roadways serving the development.  Furthermore, the site provides convenient "daytime population access" for both vehicular and foot traffic.
